2024年の渡航記もままならないままですが・・・
日本の発酵食品や奈良漬が世界の食に寄り添い
お役にたてるよう、日々奮闘をしております。

2025年のスタートは、青の都🩵ウズベキスタン・サマルカンドへ✈️
ご縁をいただき、業種もさまざまな有志企業の皆さんと共にビジネスセッション・視察でご一緒させていただきました。

位置でお伝えすると「中央アジア」
北はカザフスタン、北東はキルギス、南東はタジキスタン
南はアフガニスタン、南西はトルクメニスタンがあります。
海に直接アクセスできない内陸国であると同時に
その国境を接するすべての隣国も内陸国、
つまり
海にアクセスするには、最低2回国境を通過しなければならない二重内陸国。
この二重内陸国は、世界のなかで”ウズベキスタン”と
オーストリアとスイスの間にある”リヒテンシュタイン”の2つの国だけ。

「スタン」がつくと、なんだか物騒な国？と
心配されていましたが、ウズベキスタンはそんなことはありませんでした🇺🇿

今まさに成長をし続けている国、ウズベキスタン。
その成長っぷりに刺激を受け
ウズベクの人々のあたたかさに感激です。

ウズベキスタン共和国のサマルカンド市は
私の住む奈良市と姉妹都市協定を結ぶ都市。
サマルカンドはサマルカンド・ブルーと呼ばれる
鮮やかな青色タイルで色褪せない青の美しさから
「青の都」と呼ばれています🩵
サマルカンドの「サマル」は人々が出会う
「カンド」は町という意味があるのだと
教えてもらって納得です😌

ウズベクの方々、現地サポートをいただいた
奈良市観光大使・ウミッドさんとスタッフさんの
お心尽くしのナビゲート
日本からご一緒させていただいた
みなさんに出逢えたことがうれしくって幸せで
心から御礼申し上げます。ありがとうございました。

改めて、日程延ばして必ず訪れたい地。

It’s been a while, this is Mariko.
While my travelogue from 2024 is still unfinished… I am working hard every day so that Japanese fermented foods and Sake pickles/NARADUKE can be a part of the world’s cuisine and be of service.

The start of 2025 took me to Samarkand, Uzbekistan, the City of Blue🩵✈️
Through a wonderful connection, I had the opportunity to join a business session and tour with fellow entrepreneurs from various industries.

Geographically, it’s located in “Central Asia.”
To the north lies Kazakhstan, to the northeast Kyrgyzstan,
to the southeast Tajikistan, to the south Afghanistan,
and to the southwest Turkmenistan.
It’s a landlocked country with no direct access to the sea.
Furthermore, all of its neighboring countries are also landlocked,
making it a doubly landlocked country, meaning you have to cross at least two borders to reach the sea.
In fact, Uzbekistan and Liechtenstein are the only doubly landlocked countries in the world.

Some people expressed concern, wondering if the “stan” suffix in the country’s name meant it was a dangerous place.
However, Uzbekistan was nothing like that! 🇺🇿

Uzbekistan is a country currently experiencing remarkable growth.
I am so inspired by its progress and deeply touched by the warmth of the Uzbek people.

Samarkand City in the Republic of Uzbekistan is a sister city to Nara City, where I live.
Samarkand is known as the “City of Blue” 🩵 because of the timeless beauty of its vibrant blue tiles, often referred to as “Samarkand Blue.”
I learned that the “Samar” in Samarkand means “people meet,”
and “kand” means “city,” which makes perfect sense to me.😌

I am deeply grateful to the Uzbek people,
Mr. Umid (the Nara City Tourism Ambassador) and his staff
for their heartfelt guidance, and to everyone from Japan who I had the pleasure of meeting on this trip.
Thank you very much.
I definitely want to extend my stay and visit again.
I hope to share my firsthand experiences with people in Japan
and Nara and help create new connections! 🇺🇿🇯🇵
